Abode
of Peace is a charitable organization dedicated to serve the
unwanted, unloved and uncared for children. We also extend
our services to the young adults and also adults who come
from various needy backgrounds. It is situated in a city called
Visakhapatnam in South India.
Started in a small way by a
couple Sheela and Ratnakar (Bobby) in December 1994, Abode
of Peace now homes over a hundred such children, young adults
and adults who are busy building their lives for a better
tomorrow.
We also run a school for them
in the same premises, a two storied building which we rented
to run this Home. During the daytime all the rooms would become
classrooms and from evening to the next day morning, the rooms
would become their living place. Boys live in the ground floor
and girls live in the first. We teach till 10th
standard with state syllabus and send them for government
exams as private candidates. And from 11th standard
or Intermediate course onwards we send them to outside colleges.
And
the children and the young adults who cannot take up the academic
studies for various reasons, they would be taught vocational
courses like tailoring, carpentry etc. And the destitute adults
would be given small jobs like helping in the kitchen etc.,
in the Home or would placed in small jobs like watchman etc
in the neighborhood.
It is our heart’s desire and
our God given vision to offer residential, educational and
vocational help till they build their lives into decent settlement.
